ChristCare Group Ministry
ChristCare groups have been functioning at Zion since 2006 following our initial group leader training class the previous fall. Groups are now meeting, and two subsequent 40-hour group leader training classes have been held. Four members, plus Pastor Norm, have been trained as ChristCare Equippers with responsibility for group leader training and program management.
For background information on the ChristCare program, Founder and Executive Director Dr. Kenneth C. Haugk of St. Louis, MO says it best:

“The Christian Church right now has a greater opportunity to make a difference in peoples' lives and in society than at any other time since the first century A. D. In order to seize this opportunity, congregations must meet people’s needs – effectively.
What needs do people have? What needs can congregations meet effectively? Research that we at Stephen Ministries have conducted has consistently uncovered four needs that virtually everyone has – needs that God calls and enables Christian congregations to address:
- Spiritual Growth – People truly hunger for the bread of life. They are not satisfied with shallow religion. They want to know and follow Jesus Christ.
- Community – Meaningful relationships are becoming harder and harder for people to develop. God specializes in forging relationships through Jesus Christ that result in people caring for one another and growing in discipleship.
- Mutual Care – Who cares? In an increasingly competitive, look-out-for-yourself world, the Christian Church is a haven of acceptance and care. Jesus said, 'Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another' (John 13:34). That’s exactly what people need.
- Meaningful Ministry – People need a mission larger than themselves. Christian congregations can help people discover their gifts, find places where their gifts are needed, and support them in using their gifts. The result is fulfillment and joy.
More and more congregations are turning to small group ministry as a way to meet the needs of members and potential members. They are seeing small group ministry as a key to effective ministry.”
ChristCare small groups positively impact the lives of group members. Activities focus in four areas: Prayer and Worship, Community Building and Care, Biblical Equipping, and Missional Service. New groups at Zion will be organized as leaders are trained. Watch for details on how you can become involved in a ChristCare group. It could be a life-transforming experience.
Just ask an Equipper or Leader for details.
