The District LWML Convention will be held in Las Vegas June 6-8. " Come to the desert. Come closer to God" is the theme. Info is on the bulletin board. Questions can be addressed to Charlene Perry or Roe Schmoock. Deadline for registration is mid May.
"Faith in the Marketplace," a working women's conference, is sponser by Concordia University, Irvine; Marketplace Women of Orange County; Saddleback Church; and Mariner's Church on May 2 and 3. Cost is $45. Information is on the bulletin board.
Zion Lutheran School is accepting enrollments for the next school year. Are you, or do you know someone interested in Christian education? If so, call the school at 243-3074 for more information.

Basics of the Christian Faith, a class for adults and high school youth to learn about the Lutheran Church, will begin on February 10 during the Sunday School hour. This class is the way non-Lutherans can become members of the Lutheran Church. It is also a good review for cuurnt members.
ZLYF is again happy to announce the annual Sweetheart Diiner on Saturday, Feb. 16, from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now: $7.50 per person. Don't miss this special night! Tickets may be purchase from any of the Zion Youth ( or check with the Sievers).
Lenten Soup Suppers will be hosted by ChristCare. The menu will include salads, soups, and desserts. Food will be served from 5:30 - 6:15 p.m. Please sign the list in the narthex if you can help provide food for any of these evening meals. As in the past, we will have a basket for monetary donations. Lent begins on February 6.

SECRET PRAYER PARTNER LUNCHEON JANUARY 27TH
In response to several requests, a special “end-of-the-year” brunch for past (’07) and future (’08) participants in the Secret Prayer Partner program will be held on Sunday, January 27th, at 12:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Prayer partners can be revealed then if desired, or if they have already been revealed, they can use this opportunity to get better acquainted. An explanation of the Prayer Partner program will be shared, and new partners for this next year will be drawn. Plan now to attend! Check the bulletin board at church for more information OR call Charlene Perry or Roe Schmoock.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY IN NEW ORLEANS IN MARCH!
The Christian Outreach Board has arranged a New Orleans mission trip for March 24-30, to help in the rebuilding and clean-up efforts still going on there after hurricane Katrina. Space for 10 volunteers from our church is reserved at Camp Restore, the Schmoock’s former church and school which has been converted into a dormitory and volunteer headquarters. Volunteers will be responsible for their trip costs, which will be approximately $600-700 per person. Volunteers should be in good health and at least 18 years of age. More information and a sign-up list are in the narthex. Check with Roe Schmoock if you have questions (245-6712), or go to the Camp Restore website to see what is involved ( www.camprestore.org).
